Boolarng Nangamai Aboriginal Art and Culture Studio - School Holiday Program
Join BN Artists over Summer 2010 and par take in the Youth Arts program on offer. Please refer to the timetable and different sessions available. Workshops are designed for different age groups between 6 - 16 years old.
Bookings are essential - payment ensures placement. Places are limited. Please phone on 42344221.
COST: $25 per child each class. GST inclusive. All workshops include materials. Discount group bookings 3 or more $20 per person. Group bookings are inclusive of families.
DANCE PERFORMANCE: $10 per person or $25 per family of 4.
PLEASE NOTE:
All workshops delivered by qualified Aboriginal tutors. Participants are advised to wear old clothes or a smock. Classes are not suitable for children under 5 years old.
The studio may cancel a class if there are insufficient numbers. If this occurs a full refund or credit will be provided. All materials are provided.

Friday 8th Jan 2010

Boomerang Pokerwork/ Painting Workshop: Learn to burn in your own designs on a boomerang. Learn techniques of shading & line work. Later then hand paint your design.
1:00 - 3:00pm
Storytelling - Learn about Tools & Technology: Learn to make ochre, soap and handle tools made plants & discover their uses. A hands on activity boomerang throwing at the local oval.

Weaving & Woven Storytelling: Learn about the traditions of weaving including materials and harvesting.eg. Eel traps, fish traps, water carriers. A hands on string making session included.

The Flame Trees Dance Performance: Sit in our bush foods & medicine garden and enjoy the magic of the new young dance troop. The Flaming Trees - named after the Illawarra Flame trees on our escarpment on the South - the surprise of red stays in your mind just like how the little boorie's (children) dance stays in the hearts of the audience.

Bushfoods & Medicine Garden Tour: Learn about the traditional uses of plants including medicine, food sources & tools. Walk with the Aboriginal tour guide and listen & learn about the Koori nature calendar. Learn to make traditional soap & string.

Dijeridoo Design Workshop: Learn to prepare a dijeridoo and make your own musical instrument. Scrape, Sand & prepare surface for painting. Also
learn to put your own wax mouth piece on. Pricing for this workshop is $80 - $140 for blank dijeridoo and $40 per hour for tuition fee.
